Features – Tinalandia is a famous Ecuadorian resort 20 minutes north of the city of Santa Domingo and 2 hours south of Quito. Tinalandia is known for having the first golf course in Ecuador and for being one of the best bird watching places in Ecuador according to Paul Greenfield author of the book The Birds of Ecuador. Tinalandia is also known for rare butterflies and moths that are found in only a few other places around the world. The protected reserve is home to many native Ecuadorian animals that visit the habited 65 hectare area in the evenings and early mornings. Tinalandia has been used by many scientific research groups over the years because of the plants and wildlife found on the property.
The property also has it’s own off grid micro hydro power plant that supplies electricity to some of the buildings. The altitude is at 800 to 900 meters above sea level and the temperature averages 25 C in the day and 18 C in the evening. There’s 9000 square meters of construction consisting of 12 buildings, 4 on the lower area for guests plus 3 buildings for staff and a restaurant with furniture, doors, ceilings and railings from some of the best and rarest woods known. The lower level 4 buildings have 10 rooms with private bathrooms and 22 beds.
The second level area has 3 buildings with 12 rooms with private bath rooms and 30 beds plus a two story club house. The floor of the club house is made of a type of palm wood that is said to last 1000 years. Tinalandia was built in the 1950’s and was built by woods that are very rare and protected today.
